Creating hormone balance is different for every woman.

In our 20’s we tend to think only grandmas experience hormone issues. It doesn’t take long to find out that hormone issues can affect every woman in one way or another, some more than others. And, they don’t necessarily wait until you’re a grandma.

Now that I’m in my 40’s, it seems like every birthday brings a new “hormonal surprise”.

These changes are brought on by declining levels of estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone. Yes, even woman have testosterone.

What Do Hormones Do In The Body?

Let’s talk for a moment about how they all work. First, estrogen promotes the health of the female reproductive organs, helps keep cholesterol levels down, and affects your brain (including your mood). When estrogen levels decline, usually about my age (sometimes younger), your sexual desire can be affected, and you can experience vaginal dryness, hot flashes, night sweats, and dry skin.

Second, there’s progesterone. This affects your periods and will actually stop being produced during your cycle and when ovulation stops after your last cycle (when you’re technically in menopause). Progesterone benefits the bones and cardiovascular system.

Lastly, there’s testosterone, which helps with the production of estrogen. Testosterone declines after your 20’s. It helps with libido, brain function, bone health, your sleep, and stamina.

Everyone woman is different. Some will be affected greatly by fluctuating hormone levels while some women notice very few changes.

Most women will likely notice a lot of the same symptoms associated with their regular cycle, but enhanced while approaching perimenopause (the time right before menopause). Symptoms like breast tenderness and moodiness for instance.

I have definitely experienced mood swings, my husband will attest to that. They don’t happen as much as they used to since I’ve found something that really works for me.

Maca

I love maca root. Since I’ve been using this I have more energy and muscle mass. But, the biggest difference I’ve noticed is with my libido. Most women will say their interest level decreases as they get past 40 and 50. This has helped me so much.

My husband says he’s noticed a difference in several areas. He’s noticed that my interest level has increased, but he also told me recently I’m not as moody and quick to snap, yet another piece of the hormone puzzle.

Hormone issues differ for everyone. It’s important to take care of yourself. And, when you find something natural that might help, it’s worth a try. I hope this helps you like it has helped me.

As we reach menopause it’s also important to drink water, exercise and eat well too. It all helps you stay on top of your game and feel your best.

Emotional Root Cause of Hormone Imbalance

Emotionally, a hormone imbalance correlates to feelings of overwhelm, a lack of joy, feeling overlooked, and pressure to be successful (this can relate to any area of your life - your body, your family, your health, your career, etc).  Does that resonate with you at all?  Take a few minutes and see where those feelings may be coming from.  A lot of the time, we put un-needed pressure on ourselves.  Are there any self-imposed "rules" that are no longer serving you?  Where can you take a step back, simplify, and release stress?

Where can you ignite joy back into your life?  Can you take a break this week and go to lunch with a friend?  Stop what you are doing right now, go outside, and breath some fresh air into your body.  Take 5 minutes to clear your mind and meditate.  

Healing doesnt have to be hard.  

Gentle food from nature, compassionate exercise, standing up for yourself and speaking truth, intentional joy, daily stress release, and supportive nutrition (maca, greens, avocado, sweet potatoes) are all things you can do to rebalance hormones.

How Muscle Testing Takes The Guesswork Out Of Your Health

Well, let me introduce you to the absolute best tool I have in my toolbox.  

 

Simply put, muscle testing (also known as applied kinesiology) is the quickest way to get clear answers from your body.  There is so much confusion and conflicting science in alternative health, and muscle testing is the best way to get clear on what your body needs.

Before I explain muscle testing, it’s important for you to understand the subconscious mind.

Understanding Your Subconscious Mind

When explaining muscle testing and the subconscious to my new clients, I like to use the metaphor of a computer.  Your subconscious is like a big super-computer that has recorded every word you’ve ever spoken, every face you’ve ever seen, every illness you’ve had, every thought that has crossed your mind, every emotion you’ve felt.  

Your subconscious is responsible for 90% of your bodily functions –  your heart beating, your eyes blinking, your nails growing, your food digesting, and so on.  It’s also important to understand that the subconscious mind has a strong influence on the things we do, the emotions we feel, and the actions we take in our every day lives.  Hidden in the subconscious are our emotional triggers that can keep us stuck in cycles of ill health, stress, anxiety, depression, and so on.  Like a powerful computer, your subconscious mind is capable of recording and processing a lifetime of information.

In addition, your subconscious also knows exactly what your body needs to heal. 

Let that sink in for a minute.

Your subconscious, your spirit, your higher self, knows EXACTLY what you need. 

 

How Many Questions Do You Have Regarding Your Health? 

Here are few questions I wondered about before I learned how to muscle test...

Should I eat vegan? 

Should I eat paleo? 

Do I need this supplement? 

Am I deficient in magnesium? 

Would it be better for me to run or do yoga? 

How much sleep is best for my body? 

How much water do I need to be drinking every day? 

I feel a cold coming on, what vitamins should I take to feel better quick? 

Do I have any trapped emotions that are causing my symptoms?

I could go on for a while there, but you get the point.  Muscle testing answers all of these questions.

Muscle Testing Takes The Guess Work Out Of Your Health

Muscle testing was first developed by Dr. George Goodheart in the 1960s as a way to correct misalignments in the spine.  See Applied Kinesiology: A Training Manual and Reference Book of Basic Principles and Practice by Robert Frost, 2002 for more information.  Muscle testing is now widely accepted by doctors, chiropractors, naturopaths, energy medicine practitioners, and other health care workers. 

Your body has an innate wisdom that can guide you to make healthier choices.  You just have to know how to access that wisdom.  

“Muscle testing is a noninvasive tool we can use to identify imbalances in the body. The science behind it is similar to a lie detector test or a polygraph. In a polygraph, a person is hooked up to sensitive electrodes and asked certain questions. The person’s answers generate a certain electrical response in the body, which is read and graphed by the machine, showing if the answers are true or false. This is done on a very delicate, minute scale. The muscles of the body are also affected by this electrical state- so we can use them to show this same response, just on a more pronounced, larger scale. Any muscle will become weakened in a state of incongruence or falsehood, making resistance difficult. Conversely, muscles will remain strong and able to resist when in a state of congruency or truth. What’s nice is that muscle testing allows us to access important information about health, we just have to know what questions to ask, then apply the resistance to a muscle and get our answers!” –Dr. Bradley Nelson, The Emotion Code

How To Use Essential Oils to Beat Sugar Cravings

Do you ever feel out of control around sweets?  Like, if you have one bite you won't be able to stop?

Post-Meal Craving Buster

This tip is for those who get those cravings right after a meal.  For me, it was a habit.  I always wanted a little something after lunch and dinner.  Long after I decided to replace my sugar habit with more loving self-care, my tastebuds were still craving sugar.   This tip did the trick – and still does!

 

1 drop therapeutic grade peppermint oil

 

Peppermint can clear out your sinuses, clear up your thoughts, and clean your palate.  Put one drop on the back of your clean hand and quickly dab the tip of your tongue on the spot.  Close your mouth and let the peppermint reset your tastebuds.  Make sure you wash any excess peppermint off your hand! 

If you don’t feel comfortable using the oil internally, you can always put a drop on your hands, cup your hands to your face, and inhale the oil. 

 

Sugar Craving Buster Oil Blend

These oils have been selected to offer support while breaking your emotional and physical sugar cravings.  

 

4 drops Bergamot (supports endocrine system and promotes a sense of calm and wellbeing)

3 drops Ocotea (supports balanced blood sugar levels)

7 drops Dill (sugar craving powerhouse, helps remove addiction to sweets)

You can put these oils into a 10ml roller bottle and fill remaining space with a carrier oil (I use fractionated coconut oil.  Rub a little on your wrists a couple times a day while you are shifting your sugar habits.  Then, you can use just as a craving hits.
